Responsibilities

The contractor will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team perform various mass spectrometry experiments, as well as develop novel methods and assays for high-throughput analysis and MS-based compound screening. They will work independently as a well-trained problem solver in the areas of MS and HPLC. They will manage, troubleshoot and regularly maintain the instrumentation. They will be expected to prepare samples of various modalities prior to analysis, training staff in regard to methods and procedures, and aiding in data analysis. The contractor will also be required to keep accurate and complete records of all scientific experiments according to established procedures and ensure that these records and raw data are properly retained.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or related discipline; five (5) years of specialized experience plus a Master’s degree is equivalent to a Ph.D. degree
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience

  1. 1. Expertise with mass spectrometry and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), advanced knowledge of analytical chemistry, and a basic understanding of organic chemistry
  2. 2. Experience working in a laboratory that carries out chemical research and experience with safety issues associated with chemistry laboratories
  3. Knowledge of principles and operating procedures of general laboratory equipment
  4. Excellent analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
  5. Strong communications skills, both oral and written
